Privacy Policy

1. Your exercise records stay under your control

RECRD stores your exercise records on your device. You do not need a RECRD account, and the app does not automatically upload your name, tests, or results to a server operated by us. We do not provide a cloud account or an automatic workout-sync service.

RECRD contains no advertising, advertising identifiers, or cross-app tracking. We use TelemetryDeck to collect limited anonymous usage analytics as described below. We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Apple purchases, device backups, files you choose to export, and support messages involve separate handling described below.

2. Information processed on your device

RECRD saves the information needed to run your tests and show your progress:

• Optional display name: the name or nickname you enter for your reports. You can leave it blank.
• Test setups: exercise and custom-test names, test formats, repetition or time targets, timer settings, creation dates, and identifiers that connect tests to their results.
• Exercise results: repetitions, elapsed or hold times, recording dates, and result identifiers. RECRD uses these to calculate personal records, comparisons, and progress charts.
• Unfinished tests: the test setup and timing information needed to recognize an interrupted session.
• Preferences: sound, haptics, countdown and trial-reminder settings, selected tests, and pinned, hidden, or archived tests.
• Optional onboarding profile: the predefined training-goal, experience, current-tracking, and discovery-source choices you select. You can skip the survey.
• Review-prompt history: dates and app versions when a rating prompt was requested, completion and performance-view counts, and when a paywall was presented. These records help time prompts and avoid asking too often and are stored locally. If anonymous analytics is enabled, RECRD also sends an event when a review request is issued or the Rate RECRD button is tapped; it cannot tell whether you rated the app or what rating you gave.

RECRD does not read Apple Health or HealthKit records, access your location or contacts, or capture photos, videos, or microphone recordings. Exercise results are entered or timed in the app. Audio cues play sounds; they do not record you.

3. Anonymous usage analytics

Anonymous usage analytics is on by default. RECRD begins sending the limited events described below when the app runs. You can turn off Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage analytics at any time to stop future analytics events. Turning analytics off does not restrict any app functionality, and RECRD preserves that choice on later launches.

When this setting is on, RECRD uses TelemetryDeck to receive an anonymous installation identifier, event name and time, app and operating-system version, device category, language, session context, and limited event properties. Events cover app launches; custom-test creation; test start, completion, repeat, and cancellation; Performance views; paywall views, dismissals, sources, and plan selection; broad purchase and restore outcomes; trial-reminder preference changes and broad notification-permission outcomes; and review-request or rating-button interactions. Properties may describe the test protocol, whether a test is built-in or custom, whether a prior result exists, whether the countdown is enabled, and a broad bucket for total completions. If you complete the optional onboarding survey while analytics is enabled, events can also include the predefined categories you select for training goal, experience level, previous tracking method, and where you heard about RECRD.

Analytics events never include your display name, exercise or test name, exact target, repetitions, duration, result, personal-record value, workout date, test identifier, exported or imported backup, payment details, or free-form text. We do not provide TelemetryDeck with an account identity because RECRD has no user accounts. RECRD declares Product Interaction, Device ID, Fitness, and Other Data Types for Analytics as not linked to you and not used for tracking. TelemetryDeck states that it does not store IP addresses. TelemetryDeck's current privacy FAQ says cold-storage events have no fixed deletion schedule; it expects deletion after approximately 7–10 years but does not guarantee that period. TelemetryDeck processes and retains these anonymous events under its privacy policy and privacy FAQ.

Because analytics events are not tied to a RECRD account or direct identity, we generally cannot identify or delete an individual anonymous event after it is received. You can stop future collection using the in-app setting or by deleting the app. The analytics choice remains on your device until you change it or delete the app.

4. Apple purchases and subscriptions

RECRD Premium purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. The app uses Apple's StoreKit service to display offers, make and restore purchases, and determine whether Premium access is active.

The app processes Apple-provided transaction information such as product and transaction identifiers, purchase and expiration dates, trial status, and renewal, revocation, upgrade, or billing-grace information. This is used to provide access and manage trial reminders. RECRD does not send this information to a subscription server operated by us or to a third-party subscription SDK.

We do not receive your payment-card details or Apple Account password. Apple may provide us with sales, subscription, receipt, and refund reports, including subscription identifiers and country or region information. We use these reports to operate the app and manage purchases and accounting. Apple's handling of purchases is described in App Store & Privacy.

You can manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting workout data or deleting RECRD does not cancel an Apple subscription or erase Apple's purchase records.

5. Optional trial reminders

If you enable a trial reminder and permit notifications, RECRD schedules a local notification on your device before an eligible trial ends. The app uses the trial end date and your reminder preference for this purpose. It does not register a remote push-notification token or send your workout records to a notification service.

You can turn off the trial reminder where that setting is available in RECRD, or disable RECRD notifications in iOS Settings. Refusing notification permission does not prevent you from using purchased features. A reminder does not cancel a subscription.

6. Exports, imports, and device backups

Exports. When you choose Prepare RECRD Backup, RECRD creates a temporary backup file. You can then choose Share RECRD Backup and select its destination using the iOS share sheet. The file contains your saved tests, results, display name, unfinished session if present, and the preferences and review history stored with that data. It does not include your Apple payment-card details or subscription entitlement records.

Exports are readable JSON files without an additional password or encryption applied by RECRD. Anyone who obtains a copy can read its contents. A storage, messaging, or other service you select handles that copy under its own privacy practices.

Imports. RECRD reads only the backup file you select through the system file picker, validates its format, and replaces the active local library after your confirmation. The app does not upload the imported file to us. If you choose a file in a cloud-storage service, that service may download it to your device.

Device backups. Depending on your device settings, iCloud or computer backups may contain RECRD's local app data. These backups are separate from an app-operated cloud-sync service, and we cannot access or delete them. You control them through Apple or your chosen backup tools. See what iCloud backs up.

7. Retention and deletion

RECRD retains your active exercise library on your device until you change, replace, or delete it. Hiding or archiving a test keeps its data so you can restore it later.

• You can edit your display name and supported result values, delete individual results, delete a test's results, or permanently delete a custom test and its results using the app's controls.
• Reset Workout Data in the Backup & recovery section resets the active library, including custom tests, saved results, unfinished sessions, display name, sound and haptic settings, pins, hidden and archived test lists, and review-prompt history. Built-in tests return to their defaults.
• That reset does not clear every type of stored information. The anonymous-analytics preference, separate countdown and trial-reminder preferences, scheduled reminders, temporary export files, and recovery copies preserved after a damaged data file may remain. Recovery copies have no automatic expiry in the app. A temporary export can remain until it is overwritten or removed by iOS.
• To remove the app's remaining local files and preferences, use iOS's Delete App option. Offload App preserves app data. Separately manage exported files, device backups, support messages, and Apple purchase records; the in-app reset does not delete those copies. Restoring an older backup can restore older app data.

We cannot remotely retrieve, edit, or erase the exercise records stored only on your device. If a save or deletion fails and RECRD displays a storage error, the requested change may not have been saved.

8. Support, diagnostics, and external services

Support. If you contact us, we receive the contact details, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond, investigate the issue, and maintain necessary support records. You do not need to send a full exercise backup to ask a question. Support messages may be handled by the email or support provider used to deliver them. We retain support information only as long as reasonably needed for the request, related follow-up, and applicable legal obligations. You can request deletion using the contact details below, subject to those obligations.

Diagnostics and reviews. RECRD can write technical audio-error messages to the device's system log. It does not include a third-party crash-reporting SDK. Depending on your Apple sharing settings, Apple may collect diagnostics and make app reports available to developers. We use any such reports to understand reliability and improve the app. You can manage Apple's sharing options in iOS under Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. See Apple's diagnostics guidance. If you submit an App Store rating or review, Apple handles it under its policies, and a posted review may be public.

External links. Opening a privacy, support, or Apple link connects your browser or another app to the destination service. That service and its hosting provider may process connection information, such as your IP address and browser details, to serve and protect the page. Opening a link does not attach your RECRD workout library. Those services' own notices govern their separate processing.

We limit any service provider's access to personal information we supply for support to what is necessary for that service and require protection consistent with this policy and applicable requirements. This does not describe services you independently select when exporting a backup. We may disclose information we actually hold when legally required; it does not give us access to your on-device records.

9. Security

RECRD relies on iOS app isolation and your device's security protections for its local files. Keep your device and backups secure, and choose carefully where you send exported files. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

10. Your privacy choices

You can leave your display name blank, skip the onboarding survey, turn off anonymous analytics, control notifications, edit or delete local records, and choose whether to export data or contact support. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, a copy, or deletion of personal information we hold, to restrict or object to its use, or to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Contact us to make a request. We may need enough information to verify that the request relates to your information. You may also contact your local privacy regulator.

These requests concern information we actually hold, such as correspondence you sent us. Use the app and device controls for records stored only on your device, and Apple's controls for information Apple holds.

11. Children's information

RECRD does not ask for a date of birth or automatically send local exercise records to us. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent personal information to our support contact, they can contact us to request its deletion. If we learn that we hold children's information contrary to applicable law, we will take steps to delete it as required.

12. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the app or our practices change. The updated policy will show a new last-updated date. We will provide any additional notice or obtain consent where required before applying a change that requires it.
